New Years day found me in Mahabaleshwar, a hill station with beautiful views located a few hours away from Pune. It is also popular for its strawberries as it contributes to 85% of the total strawberry produce in India and about 80% is consumed fresh.
I joined a few friends to make this day trip from Pune. We arrived the hill station after about four hours. The trip takes lesser time but we stopped to have breakfast and to take some pictures along the scenic route. The drive though, is filled with uncountable sharp corners and zigzag roads that require extra attention to navigate.
We stopped over at Mapro Gardens, a garden park in Panchgani located close to Mahabaleshwar, on our way back to Pune. The garden was packed and we struggled to find a free table in the food court. The food was great and the desert, even better. A delicious combination of strawberry ice cream, with strawberries and strawberry cream was surely the best way to end the day.
